2025 Fall Ball

At Morehead City Little League, we offer a variety of Fall Baseball programs to accommodate youth players ages 3-12. The goal of our "Fall Baseball Program" is to prepare players for the division that they will play in during the Spring Season of 2026. This gives our youth the opportunity to develop the necessary skills to move up in the spring while making it fun and relevant to their individual needs. In many cases, players will have the option to register in the division they previously played during the spring or the division they will play in during the Spring of 2026. We encourage all players who will be moving up due to age to try their new division in the Fall. We do however understand that in some cases this may not be the best fit for your child and another season in their previous division is perfectly okay.
Thank you for your interest in MHCLL

MHCLL Spring Program Descriptions:

Tee Ball Division
The focus of the MHCLL Spring T-Ball program is to introduce young players (AGES 3-4-5) to the game of baseball while fostering proper fundamentals of throwing, catching, hitting, and base running. We believe that by introducing these basic fundamentals in several series of fun group activities that we can create a fun and exciting experience for your child.

Players will be placed on a team, usually, around 6-8 players (depending on volunteer coaches) where they will be able to play games 1 to 2 times per week depending on the number of teams and field scheduling.

Sessions for practices and games usually last 30-40 minutes. T Ball times and days will be from 5:15pm-6 pm on Mondays and Thursdays during the season.

Jr Rookie Coach Pitch Division
The focus of the MHCLL Spring Jr Rookie program is to take young players (AGES 5-6) who have played at least 1 season of T-Ball and introduce them to hitting the ball, being pitched by a coach versus hitting the ball sitting on a tee. The fundamentals of throwing, catching, and baserunning that we introduce during T-Ball are used as building blocks for our coaches to further develop player’s skills in these areas. Players are given the chance to hit off of a Tee in the event they are not able to hit one of 5 pitches thrown by a coach. Each team bats through their roster even if 3 outs are made during an inning.

Players will be placed on a team, usually, around 8-10 players (depending on volunteer coaches) where they will be able to play games once a week, and one practice a week for the duration of the season.

Sessions for practices and games usually last 45 minutes, but it’s best to plan for at least an hour. Jr. Rookie times and days will be from 6 pm -7 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays during the season.

Rookie Machine Pitch Division
The focus of the MHCLL Spring Rookie program is to take young players (AGES 7-8) who have played at least 1 season of Jr. Rookie ball. Players are introduced to playing a slightly more competitive variation of baseball, where a machine is placed at 40’ to pitch a hard ball to batters. Games and practices usually last 1 hour and 30 minutes. Teams bat their entire roster and are allowed up to 10 players in the field while on defense. Teams switch between offense and defense after making 3 outs. Players at this level need to have the ability to throw and catch the ball. Coaches work to develop the fundamentals of fielding ground balls, catching fly balls, making accurate throws to the lead base, and proper hitting fundamentals to help hitters get more consistent success swinging the bat.

Players will be placed on a team, usually, around 10-12 players (depending on volunteer coaches) where they will be able to play games 1-2 times per week, and one practice a week for the duration of the season.

Sessions for practices and games usually last 1 hour and 30 minutes. Rookie times and days will be from 5:15 pm-6:45 pm on Tuesdays and Fridays during the Spring.

Minor Player Pitch Division
The focus of the MHCLL Spring Player Pitch Division is to take players (AGES 9-11) and combine them on diverse teams to develop their fine motor skills as players. Each team is diverse in age range, with the focus on experienced players helping their younger peers hone the skills they have developed in the Rookie division. A major focus is to cultivate young leaders and great teammates through a disciplined approach. It is recommended that players who elect to play in the “Minor Player Pitch Division'' have played at least 2 seasons in the Rookie Division and are competent in throwing and catching a hard baseball. All players are taught the fundamentals of pitching throughout the course of the season and allowed to develop this skill at their own pace. 12-year-old players who elect to play in this division are not allowed to pitch to ensure player safety and that younger players have an opportunity to learn this crucial aspect of the game. Coaches focus on helping players continue to grow their defensive and hitting fundamentals while ensuring that players are introduced to base running and situational baseball.

Players will be placed on a team, usually, around 10-12 players (depending on volunteer coaches) where they will be able to play 1-2 games a week, and one practice a week for the duration of the season.

Sessions for practices and games usually last 1 hour and 45 minutes. Minor times and days will be from 6:45 pm-8:30 pm on Tuesdays and Fridays during the Spring.

Major Player Pitch Division
The Spring Major Player Pitch division is a draft-only division. Ages range from 10-12. These teams are composed of our most advanced players, who demonstrate proficiency in hitting, throwing, fielding and base running. Our goal is for our major players to demonstrate sportsmanship, leadership and develop into outstanding citizens while learning the game of baseball.

Players will be drafted on a team, usually, around 10-12 players (depending on volunteer coaches) where they will be able to play 1-2 games a week, and one practice a week for the duration of the season.

Sessions for practices and games usually last 1 hour and 45 minutes. Major times and days will be from 6:45 pm-8:30 pm on Mondays and Thursdays during the Spring.
